Regional Meeting: A Dialogue on GivingSan Mateo, CA – October 1, 2013
On Tuesday October 1st 2013, CCCF participated in the Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s “Regional Meeting: A Dialogue on Giving.” Held at the San Mateo Marriott, this meeting brought together a panel of philanthropists and nonprofit leaders who engaged in a discussion about the challenges that currently face donors and grant-seekers.
The panel consisted of CEOs, CFOs, and Executive Directors of charitable organizations. These charities support a variety of causes, some of which are youth education, economic development in India, youth and family self-reliance, and community resources. In his opening remarks, Board Chair Thomas J. Friel addressed SVCF’s success in 2012. The organization’s assets rose to $2.8 billion, about 34% of which is the result of charitable contributions. SVCF distributed a record setting $294 million in grants last year, cementing its position as the nation’s leading center of philanthropy. President of CCCF, Ishwinder Judge said, “Attending events like this are so important in order to connect with others who have the same passion for giving back to community. It was such a great learning experience.”
